Peppermint Stick Cocoa
Layer the ingredients for homemade cocoa in a jar, add a ribbon and a tag, and you have a simple but stylish gift. This mix will fill a 1-quart jar (12 servings), but if your containers are different sizes, just keep the ratio of ingredients constant. On the back of the tag, write: "Mix contents in a large bowl. For each serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup boiling water. Store remaining mix in airtight container."

This is definitely a keeper. If you dont want any mint chunks in the cocoa put the peppermint in a blender/food processor and chop it finely or to a powder. I added mini marshmallows to top off the jar. It is richer if you use milk instead of water or half milk half water. I would also recommend using mini chocolate chips so they melt better, but you can add bigger ones and just stir it well when you add the hot milk to your cup. Why do people put negative comments/ratings on a recipe they haven't tried? Try it first before you judge it!12/23/09

Am I crazy? I made this hot chocolate for several friends for Christmas gifts and mistakenly did not taste it until after I had completed all the jars. I read the reviews here and figured it must be good. But no! I made myself a cup afterward and thought there was way too much cocoa powder. The ratios seem off and I did not enjoy it. I checked my measurements over and over.... the jars were pretty but did not make a tasty cup of cocoa. But maybe it's just me?12/15/09
