Outstanding

This easy but stylish dessert is best made early in the day to let the strawberries macerate in the sweetened almond liqueur.

Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 crushed cookie, and 1 tablespoon sour cream)

Ingredients

  • 6  cups  sliced strawberries
  • 1/2  cup  sugar
  • 2  tablespoons  amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
  • 6  amaretti cookies, crushed
  • 6  tablespoons  reduced-fat sour cream

Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl. Cover and chill 4 to 8 hours. Spoon into individual dessert dishes. Sprinkle with crushed cookies; top with sour cream.

loved it! it was so good! i increased the armetto to 3 tlbs and used brown sugar as someone else suggested. instead of sour cream i used fat free greek vanilla yogurt ( i used chobani) . loved it!! will be making this again. I got rave reviews from the easter dinner party. i also had it with vanilla ice cream... have to say its not bad but the yogurt is a better calorie option.04/12/09

This is one of our absolute favorites. SOOO easy to make and when I throw it together for a quick dessert for company, they go nuts. I DO have to say that I prefer to substitute the sugar for brown sugar b/c I feel that it really complements the amaretto for a richer flavor. Also, I will substitute the topping for whatever I have on hand: cinnamon graham crackers, vanilla wafers, etc. A must try!03/30/09
