Edit Note

Sweet-tart aguas frescas, served all over Mexico, make great summer coolers. Prep Time: 20 minutes. Notes: Substitute cantaloupe or watermelon for the honeydew; add sugar gradually to avoid oversweetening.

Yield: Makes about 5 cups (4 servings)

Ingredients

  • 2  cups  peeled honeydew melon chunks (see notes)
  • 1  cup  sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1  cup  fresh raspberries
  • About 1/3 cup sugar
  • About 1/3 cup fresh lime juice

Preparation

1. In a blender, combine fruit and 2 cups cold water. Whirl until puréed and add sugar and lime juice to taste.

2. Pour mixture through a strainer into a serving pitcher. Serve cold.
