Worthy of a Special Occasion

With plenty of fruit, fiber, and protein, this quick shake is a sweet snack you can feel good about. You can also enjoy a larger serving as a healthful breakfast. Look for canned passion fruit nectar with other bottled and canned juices or in the Latin food section of your grocery store. If you can't find it, substitute pineapple juice.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: about 1 cup)

Ingredients

  • 1  cup  plain fat-free yogurt
  • 1/2  cup  passion fruit nectar
  • 1/2  cup  ice cubes
  • 1 1/2  teaspoons  toasted wheat germ
  • 2  teaspoons  honey
  • 1  (12-ounce) bag frozen blueberries
  • 1  ripe banana, cut into 4 pieces

Preparation

Place all ingredients in a blender, and process until smooth.

5 stars

Make this super healthy by boosting the antioxidants with pomegranate juice instead of the passion nectar, and eliminate the yogurt. Add 2 tablespoons of flax seed and you have a great healthy start to your day!06/04/09

I used the passion fruit nectar and it was a nice balance of flavors. My blueberries were frozen, so I had to cut down on the ice or else it would be too thick.04/20/09
