Outstanding

The homemade Caramel Sauce is worth the extra time, but you can substitute your favorite store-bought version or our Cottage Kitchen Favorite. Test kitchen tip: Using a frozen banana gives the shake an extra-creamy consistency. Prep: 5 minutes.

Yield: Makes 3 to 4 (8-ounce) servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2  cup  Caramel Sauce
  • 1  large ripe banana
  • 1  pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2  cup  milk

Preparation

Process all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Serve in individual glasses, and top with additional Caramel Sauce, if desired.

Fantastic milkshake. However, I will reduce the amount of caramel sauce next time since it made the milkshake almost sickeningly sweet and also difficult to taste the banana. I used storebought caramel - don't know if that made the difference or not with the sweetness. I used a frozen banana.06/16/09
