Worthy of a Special Occasion

This all-purpose chocolate sauce flavorfully pairs with cake, frozen yogurt, or fresh fruit.

Yield: 1 1/2 cups (serving size: 2 tablespoons)

Ingredients

  • 1/2  cup  sugar
  • 1/2  cup  unsweetened cocoa
  • 1  cup  fat-free milk
  • 1  tablespoon  butter
  • 1 1/2  ounces  semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2  teaspoon  vanilla extract

Preparation

Combine sugar and cocoa in a small saucepan; stir in milk and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate and vanilla, stirring until chocolate melts. Serve warm or let stand 10 minutes to thicken.

Pretty tasty! It wasn't quite sweet enough for me, so I added a little powdered sugar after the sauce had cooled a bit. Hopefully this sauce will help the dry chocolate cake I just made!04/16/07
