Ingredients

  • 1  pound  ground beef
  • 1  large onion, chopped
  • 2  garlic cloves, minced
  • 1  (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1  (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 3  cups  tomato juice
  • 1  cup  water
  • 1  teaspoon  salt
  • 1  teaspoon  sugar
  • 2  to 3 teaspoons chili powder

  • Dash of pepper
  • 1  (7-ounce) package spaghetti, uncooked
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Garnish: fresh Italian parsley sprigs

Preparation

Cook first 3 ingredients in a Dutch oven, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain well. Return beef mixture to pan. Stir in tomato sauce and next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring often, 30 minutes.

Add pasta; cover and simmer, stirring often, 20 minutes or until pasta is tender. Serve with cheese, and garnish, if desired.

This is a dish the whole family loved. My 13 month old went nuts over this! I am going to save this recipe for my go to. The only altering I did was using 1.5 lbs of beef, half the onion, V8, and rotini pasta. I didn't simmer the sauce for 30 minutes and instead just added my noodles to cut the cook time in half. I never seen spaghetti made in one pot and it made clean up super easy! Served this with basil pesto bread.07/15/09

This was GREAT! I loved it for a weeknight..serve with crusty bread and butter and a salad or green vegetable and sprinkle with fresh-grated Parm for a perfect family meal. My kids LOVED it and the leftovers were a hit too. And the best part -- super quick for a weekday meal and only one pot to wash up. My go-to spaghetti recipe from now on!07/07/09
