Ingredients

  • 3  quarts water
  • 1  teaspoon  salt
  • 2  pounds  frozen soybeans in pods

Preparation

In a 5- to 6-quart pan over high heat, bring about 3 quarts water and 1 teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 2 pounds frozen soybeans in pods and cook until beans inside pods are tender to bite (break a pod open to test), about 5 minutes. Drain and sprinkle with additional salt to taste. Serve warm or cover and chill up to 4 hours.

This is a perfect, low-fat party snack! People love the slightly salty taste, it looks like hard work even though it's really easy, and it's a nice alternative to chips. This recipe works, but you can just follow the directions on the back of the package, too.06/26/06
