Very easy to make, I used ground Italian Sausage so I didn't have to fool with sausage in castings. Wonderful recipe 01/31/10

I used lean turkey Italian Sausage and it was yummy! A lot less fat! I also used macaroni pasta and my family loved this soup. Will make again. 03/25/09

I have been making this soup for years, ever since it first came out in Sunset in 2003. It is my favorite soup recipe -- very, very tasty made exactly as written. You will not be disappointed -- trust me on this one.

Believe it or not, I make a vegetarian version -- omit the sausage and substitute vegetable broth for the chicken broth. It is delicious. My vegetarian daughter gives it 2 thumbs up, and so do all the meat eaters in the family. A keeper -- we've had it a number of times already! 10/14/07

I love this soup. It is very hardy, so it makes an excellent dinner. I usually have to add additional broth because there are so many goodies in it. It does make a lot, but I've frozen the leftovers very succesfully. 01/25/07

I LOVE this soup! I make mine with Sicilian Chicken Sausage, I don't use tomatoes, and I add sliced black olives and mushrooms - It is so good and everyone who has tried it raves. Try this recipe - you won't be sorry! It does make a huge batch - I cut it in half the first time and it worked out great. 01/14/07

This soup is not only delicious, but it is healthy as well. Try adding thinly sliced fresh basil and parmesan cheese on top. 04/29/06

I have served this soup at a party with salad and Italian bread and got raves and requests for the recipe. It is my favorite and it is often requested when I have a dinner party. 08/07/05
